What is Acne

Hi everyone…since this is the first article that I got to post, I will discuss about what is acne. The best cure is prevention. In order for us to prevent the acne problem, the very first thing that we need to know is what is acne?!

What is acne

There are small holes in our skin called pores. Pores will connect to the oil glands which located under the skin by a canal called follicle. Follicles carries oily substance which produces in the oil glands to the surface of the skin. When the follicle of a skin gland block up, a pimple will grows.

Types of acne

There are two types of acne:

  • Non-inflammatory acne
  • Inflammatory acne

Non-inflammatory acne is the most common type of acne. Whiteheads and blackheads are included in this type. With blackheads, the hair follicle is open to the surface but the oil which is blocking the pore is visible and oxidixed become black color when its contact with the air. When the pore is closed off, the whitehead develops.

Inflammatory acne is more severe and usually requires stronger treatment, especially when the outbreaks are continually.Generally, this kind of acne is often caused by bacteria. As the result, red color, swelling and slightly high skin temperature will occurred at the inflamed area. Papules, pustules, nodules and cysts are included in this type. Papules are small pink bumps that can be tender, pustules are the pimples that red at the bottom and have thick yellowish matter coming out from an infected area. Nodules are large, painful and solid pimples that are deep in the skin while cysts are deep, painful and have large pus filled in the pimples.

Above are the simple explanation on what is acne and types of acne. Instead of treating acne, another way to deal with this skin problem is to prevent it from happening in the first place. While some people may attribute the appearance of pimples to snacks like chocolate, there is no scientific evidence that chocolate does, indeed, trigger pimples and hence acne to appear on your face.
